The mission
We cannot change every child's circumstances overnight, but we can change what they believe is possible
Seguimos Aquí exists to put a specific idea into a child's hands early: that owning a home, staying in your community, and building something for the next generation are things ordinary families do.
What families are facing
Across Puerto Rico, families have carried rising housing costs, displacement from neighborhoods they helped build, limited access to financial education, and the closing of hundreds of schools. Many households have had to make the hardest decision there is — to leave.
Those pressures are real and they are larger than any one book. This initiative does not claim to solve them. What it can do is reach children at the age when beliefs are still forming, and make sure that the words home, save, own, and mortgage are not strangers to them.
We describe these conditions in general terms drawn from the author's own experience and the book's dedication. Where we cite specific figures, we will link the source.
Bilingual books, in real classrooms, across the island
Every sponsorship funds English and Spanish copies of Seguimos Aquí for elementary schools, libraries, and community organizations in Puerto Rico — chosen with educators, delivered where they are wanted, and reported back honestly.
- Books arrive in both languages so no child is reading a translation of themselves
- Schools and community organizations request books directly through this site
- Every delivery is confirmed before it is counted on the impact dashboard
- Sponsors receive an update on where their books went, subject to school permission
What we promise, and what we don't
What we do
- Publish only confirmed numbers on the impact dashboard
- Name sponsors only with written permission
- Tell you plainly when a delivery is delayed or a school declines
- Keep sponsorship funds directed to book production, fulfillment, and delivery
What we don't do
- Promise tax deductibility — see the FAQ for the honest answer
- Claim endorsements from schools, agencies, or companies we haven't partnered with
- Publish photos of children without school and family permission
- Invent statistics to make the mission look bigger than it is
